Namibia Zamseed wins ‘Best Agronomy Service Provider of the Year’ award at national level
On the 16th of November 2022, the Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) held its National Agronomy and Horticulture Awards (NAHA) ceremony at the Agriculture Showgrounds in Grootfontein, Otjozondjupa region.
The awards are aimed at recognising and awarding those adding value to the growth of agriculture and contributing to issues of increased agricultural productivity in Namibia.
Namibia Zamseed was awarded the ‘Best Agronomy Provider of the Year’ award in recognition of its contribution to providing certified agricultural seeds of the highest quality to the maize and wheat farming community of Namibia.
“Namibia Zamseed provides seed that is bred for changing climatic conditions at a competitive price. We collaborate with farmers to ensure improved food security and an increased income level,” says Maxon Simfukwe, Country Manager at Namibia Zamseed.
The seed market in Namibia has historically been dominated by South African-based competitors, but this award demonstrates that Zamseed is gaining attention and recognition from key government stakeholders in the agricultural sector of Namibia.
Jordan Soko, Chair of the Zamseed Group added “Zamseed Group is seen as a regional seed champion, and this recognition will allow us to continue our expansion further, improving the yields of resource-constrained smallholder farmers across six African countries.”
Speaking during the awards ceremony, Dr Fidelis Mwazi, the NAB CEO, emphasised the need for Namibia to adapt towards the green economy from the crop industry perspective. “The industry needs to focus efforts on interventions aimed at rescuing the green economy from a crop perspective in the face of the economic crisis and climate variability”, he said.
