Silverlands Namibia - Silverlands Vineyards Ltd and Achill Island Investments PTY Ltd
Silverlands I acquired Silverlands Vineyards (SVL), three adjacent titles, located in the Aussenkehr area on the Orange River in southern Namibia. The Aussenkehr area represents one of the best areas to grow table grapes and date palms in the world, primarily because of the timing of the harvest. Since acquisition, the farm has been expanded by >70% to 340ha of irrigated vineyards and in 2020 planted its first 6ha of date palms with plans to plant up to 60ha by 2022.
Achill owns a farm with associated packing and export infrastructure in Aussenkehr, Southern Namibia. The final table grape area will be just over 350ha, with the same expectation of a 275ha date palm development. Relatively little date palm production takes place in the Southern Hemisphere and there is a narrow range of suitable areas where date palms can be grown. The area is also well suited for blueberries and seed vegetables and these crops are also being explored.
